Mahavir Mandir had a humble beginning in a room with a tiled roof and as to the founder and date of inception, details are not available. It is said have been built in the colonial period. One version has it as per some records this temple was originally established by Swami Balanand, a sage of Ramanandi sect around 1730 A.D. The small room - a place of worship had a kerosene lamp that was lit in the evening. The temple became popular after the arrival of Punjabi Hindu refugees here in the wake of partition in 1947. Soon a small concrete building came up and in 1987, as more and more devotees began to visit this shrine,
