The architect carefully incorporated the early domestic Gothic style with the façade features six castellated turrets instead of steep pinnacles which were dominant features of previously crowned structures. The chosen site dominated by greenery gives the effect of an English village and the back part of the structure suggests English country house. Yet another feature is the careful handling of the stones available locally for interior and exterior parts. The construction stones include dark grey marble stones of various shades, dolomitic limestone and partial use of Agra red sandstone in selected place to give extra look to the grandeur building. Local stones were used in its construction, with Ashler’s finishing. Teak wood was carefully used in the stairway, door frames, doors, windows, dinning room ,etc. Burma teak was used in conjunction with other versions of teak. The glass tiles, brass fittings and iron pipes that were used in specific parts were specially imported from England. However, the work was done by local skilled workers. The contractors who did the interior furnishing were Messrs.' Lazarus and Co. of Calcutta and Messrs Maple and Co. of London.
