Incidentally don't mistake this site for the Dharmapuri town in Tamil Nadu or places bearing this name. Dharmapuri of Telangana is a small town located on the west bank of Godavari river in the Jagtial district at its border with the Mancherial district. It was home to several historic Hindu temples in the past. Unfortunately many of these temples were damaged or destroyed in the 14th and 15th-centuries When Decani sultanates captured the Deccan region during the conquest of Deccan region

An abode of Narsimha Swamy, the fourth avatar of Vishnu to annihilate the evil Assura Hiranya Kashipu it was built during the reign of the Chalukyas, and later expanded by the Kakatiyas . Here God's consort is Devi Lakshmi. .
What is interesting is one can see three forms of Narasimha at this temple. The first is in his natural seated posture. The second being in the is the Ugra form- angry mood. He had just come out after slaying the cruel demon king by taking a unique form with a Human body and lion's head Narashimha's ferocity had not yet subsided. The third form is the Saumya (peaceful) avatar of Balaji, similar to the one at Tirupati.
Narashimha became calm and composed at the request of his ardent devote Prahlad, son of the demon king. Goddess Lakshmi (Senchu Lakshmi) alos appealed to Narasimha to calm himself as his devotees were afraid of him.
There is a small temple dedicated to Sri Venugopal with Rukmini and Satyabhama. Ye another odd feature is an idol of Yama, the lord of Dharma and death at the entrance of the temple. Devotees entering this temple offer their prayer to him first then to Lord Aanjaney Swamy, before proceeding to the sanctum to pray to the main god.
Other festivals of this temple are Bonalu, Dussera,. However the primary festival is annual Brahmotsavam. Pilgrims generally perform ‘Satya Narayana Puja’ at this place.
More often than not wedding are held on the temples premises so that the married couples will commence their arduous life's journey on a happy note with blessings from God Narasimha.
