The Utsavam spans ten days and is marked by elaborate rituals, processions, and recitations of the Divya Prabandham. The highlight is the procession of Thirumangai Azhwar’s idol through the nine temples, where he symbolically performs mangalasasanam—offering praises and blessings to the presiding deities. Devotees throng these temples during the festival, reliving the spiritual fervor and immersing themselves in the Alwar’s devotional poetry. The festival culminates with a grand gathering at Alwar Thirunagari, his birthplace, celebrating his life and contributions to Tamil Vaishnavism.
When Thirumangai Azwar was at Srirangam he made vast contributions to the lord. Apart from building structures like the hundred pillar mandapam for the yearly festival adhyayana uthsavam, the north and south towers at Kulasekaran thiruveedhi and also the fourth compound wall ( Mathil suvar), his lasting contribution is the introduction of Vaikunta Ekadasi as a ten day festival and the recitation of 1000 hymns of Nalayera Prabhandam composed by Namazhawar. He took the pain of getting the festival idol of Namazhwar from Azwar Thrunagari and the devotional hymns were recited with devotion before the idol of Namperumal,

Namazhwar Moksham is the finale of the 22 day Vaikunta Ekadash festival that was later extended by Vaishnava Pontiff Sri Ramanuja when he ran the administration at Srirangam. The inner praharam of the 4th compound wall called “Aalinaadan veethi” (that was the name of the place ruled by Azwar) and the Karthikai Vaasal (birth star of Thirumangai Azhwar) are some of his legacies at Srirangam.
