St. Sebastian Church located in  a quiet village Madathattuvilai of
Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, in the southern most tip of the Peninsular India  is a Catholic  church that came up in 1890. It is neither a massive, richly embellished attractive structure nor does it possess huge ornamental prayer hall and rich altar to be proud of. It is not a colonial church either as many of the churches  across India   are. The village itself a small one, not quite well-known outside of this district.  Centuries ago Friars chose Madathattuvilai hamlet and adjacent areas to begin their their pastoral ministry for the people.

The church may look humble but, its service to poor and needy people is big, perhaps first of a kind in India!   The young church members are firmly committed to the ' motto of ''service to people is service to god''  in a unique way. To them ''donation  of eye to the needy  is a way to offer service to the god''
